NewSex Vol.21: SexEd, Slut-Shaming, Revenge Porn and Vulva or Vagina

Hello Elite!!

Even if it’s holiday-time and we imagine you lay down in such beautiful place, NewSex is back!!

SexEd: Haven’t Had the Masturbation Talk Yet?

Sexed is still something difficult to find in schools, especially if we speak about modern and all-inclusive sex education, which goes from pleasure to how-to, from diversity to gender, to sexuality, STIs, consent, respect and relationship education.
Most importantly, schools can’t do it all. Parents play a key role in how children perceive sex and sexuality!

(from Cut)Though it’s difficult to watch these parents navigate the topic to the best of their abilities, it’s ultimately reassuring to know that — if and when you decide to have that conversation — it is uncomfortable for everyone, and that’s OK. Watch here.

Stop Calling it a Vagina

When it comes to female pleasure or female intimate parts we find ourselves in front of another big taboo, surly bigger than just talking about sex or male masturbation. We can definitely point it to the lack (or total absence) of a good sex education since we were in school but also to the common use of wrong words to describe our intimate parts. Is it a vulva or a vagina??

vagina

(from Vice) The vaginal opening is just one part of the vulva. The vulva makes up everything you see on the outside: the visible part of the clitoris (this is only the tip of the clitoris iceberg, the much larger part of the clitoris is found inside the body), the labia (inner and outer lips), the urethral opening (for urination or ejaculation), and the entry/exit point of the vagina. Slut Shaming

Speaking of sexuality and they way it is perceived by society, we still see so many cases of slut shaming regards women. Not only female pleasure is something still difficult to be accepted as normal, but how women dress, behave, speak, think, appear is always used as an excuse (totally not valid) to make them feel ashamed.

youngwoman

Revenge Porn

Technology and social media play such an important role in our lives but they are not always used correctly. Revenge porn is becoming quite common and, guess what, it affects more women than men. What if we live in a world that accepts sex and sexuality as a normal part of life? Would we still have revenge porn (and all the devastating effect is creates on the victims)?

revengeporn

(from Guardian) Facebook had to assess nearly 54,000 potential cases of revenge pornography and “sextortion” on the site in a single month, according to a leaked document. Figures shared with staff reveal that in January Facebook had to disable more than 14,000 accounts related to these types of sexual abuse – and 33 of the cases reviewed involved children. More…
